Inspired by the concept of “paradigm shift” introduced by Thomas Kuhn, this presentation will discuss how systems change and the types of changes they go through looking at examples from different fields. It also intends to relate the discussion to the artists’ own work. The discussion will primarily focus on the following questions: How does a system secure its continuity through repetition and cycles? When does repetition start to produce anomalies that cause blockages and when do these anomalies cause ruptures? Yağız Özgen will discuss the topic in relation to normal and extraordinary science, Sergen Şehitoğlu to archiving and noise, Ali Miharbi to information and surprise, Kerem Ozan Bayraktar to the concepts of variety and complexity.
